Betwixt & Between the Aroura Borealis

I saw the Aroura Borealis for the first time when I was in the 5th grade. I was at the drive-in movies in Littleton, NH watching Bambi with my mother, sisters, and my mum's mother and cousin; who were visiting from Maryland. We were about half-way through the movie when the sky lit up in an amazing light show, that seemed to settle over us like a dome. My mother and her mother had never heard of the 'Northern Lights'; being from Maryland, and therefore had no idea what was happening...leading us all to believe that perhaps Jesus was coming and this was the end of the world!

I should mention, that this was about the same time that my parents had religion; adding to the assumption that the lights in the sky were a sign of the rapture or something of the likes. My cousin; who was only in the 4th grade, taking her first big trip away from her parents, began to panic as she didn't want to go to heaven without her parents and siblings. So my mom did the only thing that made sense at the time, she peeled out of the drive-in and headed for home.

When we got home and told my father about the mysterious lights in the sky, and how it was likely the end of the world coming, he started laughing!; as he had been raised in the North and was familiar with the Aroura Borealis. After his laughter at our folly was over, he packed us back in the car and drove us to the top of Dalton Mountain where we could watch the show from in comfort from the back our our hatchback car.

The moment of awe that first introduced me to the Aroura Borealis has lasted a lifetime for me, with small glimpses of wonder thrown in from time to time, when I have been fortunate enough to view them. But in truth, most of the time when they are out it's cloudy where I am. I have even traveled to Iceland twice and not seen them while there!

Last night as I was preparing to do a live video for the subscribers of my private group; the Wisdom Keepers, I got a text from one of my graduate apprentices telling me that the Northen Lights could be seen from my little mountaintop. With 5 minutes to spare I ran out the door hoping to see something, but alas I was behind the tree line and could not. I went back inside and prayed it would still be visible when I finished...and it was!

It was a very cold out (right around 0 degrees F) so I bundled up in snow pants, a fur coat, and hat and headed down my long driveway; as I had been told they were more visible to the north, and my driveway was tree covered to the north, and the snow in my yard was over 3'... The snow squeeked as I walked down the driveway in the dark, only turning my phone light on occasionally when I started veering in the direction of the snow bank.

At first I could only really see the lights through my camera lens taking pictures in low light setting; a trick that I learned online, but slowly as my eyes adjusted I could see the dancing colors with my lights, and once again I was filled with awe!

The Northern Lights or Aroura Borealis as they are officially named, is the result of high solar activity (solar flares), and can be a nusance for things like satalites and the like, as well as causing physical effects in humans like migraines, fatigue, and sleep issues. But on a spiritual level it is something much more intriguing!

Mystics and folklorist have mixed opinions on their spiritual nature, some being good and some not so good. But either way there is a strong connection between the Northern Lights and the spirit world. In modern culture there is also a connection between the Aroura Borealis and cosmic downloads; information coming from spiritual allies much in the way we download a file on the computer, with only the surface bits being understood at the moment and the rest coming along in time.

Personally I believe that the high dose of solar energy we are being bombarded with during the Aroara activates us, opening us on a spiritual level; something that some people are into and others fear! I experience this solar activity as an upgrade, a spiritual boost (download), that happens whether I physically see the lights or not! My sleep patterns are generally a bit wonky during this time, with vivid dreams, and the occasional restless night. While I do feel a bit uncomfortable in my body during these times (mostly a feeling of too much electricity in my body, and the occasional migraine), I accept it as part and parcel of the growth that comes with the transmition....after all we are solar powered!

Solar storms and the Aroura's that come with activate moments of Betwixt and Between, in which we are more connected to the world of spirit. Whether we see them or not, this time of high solar activity is filled with the potential to connect with the otherworld of spirit.

While I didn't think of it last night, Im gonna keep a look out tonight and bring a jar of water out to make an elixir under the Northern Lights, and I invite you to do the same!
