I love my country!

I love my country! That seems to be a hard statement to make these days, one many folks are struggling with today; the birthday of our nation. While I am not proud of the hatred, bigotry, and consumerism that infest our nation, I am proud of the many beautiful souls who call the United States home.

We cannot turn our back on our nation, in hate, because we do not like the actions of the few; for it is my opinion, that the average American is not hate-filled and seeking the oppression of others. While I stand against the atrocities that have happened, and continue to happen, I will not stand down and let those who are hate-filled be the only representation of what it means to be an American.

My father was a 100% disabled Vietnam Vet, and while he openly spoke out, telling others what really happened there, he never turned his back on his country. He never disowned the nation of his ancestors, even when others were spitting on him and calling him a baby-killer. He did not turn his back when the politicians wanted to pretend that the war he fought in, wasn't really a war (police action). Instead, he wore his red, white and blue and spoke of how it was his responsibility to represent the country he loved so that others knew that this too was America.

I know many want to turn their back, to wear black t-shirts and say Fuck-you to the United States, and I get it. But then I remember, that I too am an American, and so are all of the people out there, right now standing for freedom, justice, and an end to tyranny. I used to think that wearing patriotic colors were lame, and felt the same resistance as many, lumping all the flag-wavers into the category of close-minded, and hateful, and then my dad brought up Wonder Woman!

One day, when he was trying to make his point on how we needed to be the representatives of what we thought this country should be, he reminded me that my hero Wonder Woman wore a uniform similar to the United States flag and that she represented what I wanted America to be. I want to live in a country that stands for truth, justice, and kindness, and I can't do that by turning my back on it and saying "All you haters, she's yours now!"

Every one of us has descendants that came from somewhere else, some of us stolen and brought here against our will, some of us fleeing the tyranny, poverty, and injustice of other countries, but we are all 'other', and we are all American.

I will be placing spells into the fireworks launched from Solstice Meadow. ((You can join me in doing this, simply watch the video I posted on my Salicrow, Psychic Medium page Wyrd Musings-Fireworks, magic, and July 4th.)) I will be wearing my Wonder Woman best as I send out love, healing, and protection to our country. I will not turn my back on the country I love, I will instead stand in opposition of the haters who think they are her only voice! This is our home, our mother, and just because there are things that need to be cleaned up, we do not turn our back on our mother-land!
